Vauxhall Bridge Road Incident

We wanted to take the opportunity to update the community on an incident that occurred on Friday 20th February near the Apollo Theatre on Vauxhall Bridge Road. We are aware residents may have observed the scene or heard accounts about what may have happened. We wanted to provide some clarity on the incident to allay wider concern. 

At approximately 7pm officers were called to the Apollo Theatre in response to reports of a fight involving four males. Two were found injured upon police arrival, and the London Ambulance Service was called to treat them.  Both males were subsequently arrested for several offences including Affray and Possession of an Offensive Weapon. One suspect was found to be in possession of a screwdriver, and arrested for Possession of a Bladed Article, but this was not used in the affray and no knife/bladed article injuries were sustained by any party. 

A crime scene was put in place for several hours during the evening in order to secure evidence to assist in the investigation. 

We understand that this incident and a large emergency service presence at the scene may have caused concern.  However, both suspects were arrested at the scene and we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident. This is a live investigation and further updates may be given in due course.
